Edinburgh
Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, lies on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth. This historic city of around 506,520 inhabitants is the seat of the Scottish Parliament and of four universities, including the University of Edinburgh, founded in 1583. Known for its many festivals, such as the Edinburgh International Festival and the Fringe, it attracts visitors above all in summer. Average temperatures range from 0°C in winter to 19°C in summer, which makes August the ideal month for a visit.
