Salerno
Salerno is an Italian city in the Campania region, set on a gulf of the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is home to around 140 thousand people. It is known for the historic cathedral of St Matthew, which holds the tomb of the Evangelist. Salerno is also home to a Romanesque-Gothic bishop's palace. The city has a rich history reaching back to Roman times and to its famous school of medicine. The Mediterranean climate brings mild winters and warm summers. The best time to visit is spring or autumn, when the weather is ideal for sightseeing.
